1. What are the objectives of the IMBA Program?
The IMBA aims to cultivate practical business and global management leaders who will create and innovate businesses in Japan, Asia and other countries. To achieve this, the Program is structured to:

 - develop a broad range of knowledge and management skills
 - help you find your personal mission in your life
 - help you build your human network.

Please read the IMBA Educational Principle by the Deputy Dean to find out more.

2. For which kinds of people is the IMBA Program suitable?
The IMBA was created for people who wish to:

 - bring change to the world and create a better society
 - start their own business
 - enhance their personal vision, management and human skills as global leaders.

International work experience is preferable, but not necessary. IMBA is a place where students with skills and vision come together to create something new.

3. What is the difference between IMBA and Pre-IMBA?
The IMBA is an MBA program designed for people who wish to learn comprehensive management skills and who are willing to devote at least two years of your time while you are working.

The Pre-IMBA allows you to start from just one IMBA course of your choice. If you decide to enroll in the IMBA program, you may transfer these credits to the IMBA Program. Students can choose from a list of Pre-IMBA courses up to 10 and retain Pre-IMBA student for up to 1 year.

4. How diverse is the IMBA student body?
IMBA has unique and sophisticated students from and across many different regions including Europe, Africa, and Asia. (The current international student rate is approximately 20%, and we expect this figure to rise). Their backgrounds are diverse, ranging all across business, including entrepreneurs, lawyers, consultants, bankers, and more. Most of them have international business experience. Please refer to the Student Page for more details.

5. What is the length of the IMBA program?
IMBA is a two-year MBA program. However, students can extend their study period for up to five years. (In that case, they incur an extra tuition charge beginning in the 3rd year.)

6. When is the starting date of the IMBA program?
IMBA starts in April each year.

7. Which times and which days are classes held?
The IMBA Program offers courses on weekday nights and weekends.
 - Weekdays: 19:00-22:00
 - Weekends: 10:00-13:00, 14:00-17:00, and 18:00-21:00 (Saturdays only)

8. Can I retake a class (a substitution class) that I missed?
Yes. If you did not attend a particular class, you will be able to substitute the class when it is next offered.

9. How many courses should I take?
The program completion requires 36 credits, and the credit of each course is worth 1.5 credits*. There are 4 terms in one year, so you need to take at least 3 courses per term if you want to finish the program in two years. (You can extend your IMBA status for up to five years.)

*Some courses are worth 1.0 credit. Please refer to the Curriculum Map.

10. Is it possible to complete the IMBA Program by only attending weekend classes?
Unfortunately, not at the moment. You need to spend at least 3 years to complete the IMBA Program if you attend only weekend classes.

11. Can I take courses offered in the Japanese MBA Program at Globis University?
Yes. The credits acquired at the Japanese language program are counted toward program completion. A maximum of 9 credits can be taken in the Japanese language program.

12. Does IMBA offer a full-time program or online education?
No. Currently, we are not offering a full-time program or online courses.

13. Does IMBA accept transfer credits from other graduate schools?
It is possible. Please consult the admissions office. If approved, you can transfer the credits from other schools.

14. Globis has not yet been accredited by the AACSB. Why?
At the moment, we have not applied for accreditation from associations such as the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) or the AMBA (Association of MBAs), primarily because our strengths do not necessarily match the criteria set forth by these organizations. For instance, in our lecturers, we look for extensive business experience and the ability to manage discussions and lead students to arrive at meaningful learning points. The accreditation associations above often simply require a large number of lecturers with PhDs.

15. Is it possible to take a leave of absence for business reasons?
A student who can no longer continue attending school due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances may be permitted to take a leave of absence after completing the necessary procedures. Please refer to the Article 29 of Graduate School Regulations.
